About Me

Hi, I'm Justin Weinmann.

I'm an artist, teacher and history buff based in the Houston area. For the past 15 years I've been teaching in the classroom — and for almost as long I've been drawing history.

History Illustrated started as a simple idea. I wanted my students to actually enjoy learning history. So I did what came naturally — I drew it.

What began as illustrated lessons for my own class eventually became something much bigger. Millions of teachers and students around the world have used History Illustrated videos to bring history to life. That still surprises me a little.

Every video on this channel is hand drawn, hand lettered and narrated by me. No AI illustrations. No stock footage. Just original artwork and storytelling built around the moments, people and ideas that shaped the world we live in.

I teach during the day. I draw and make videos whenever I can. The two things have always felt like the same thing to me — finding a way to make something worth paying attention to.

History Illustrated is that attempt.
